Personal Opinions
All content consists solely of the personal opinions of the writers and contributors. Users and posters accept this disclaimer in the posting of any information onto this website.
We acknowledge that although we follow and seek the blessing of a perfect, omniscient God, our human understanding of the issues we raise and the needs we highlight is flawed and limited. It is our prayer that we may yet be able to edify, encourage and be preserving salt and guiding light to the world around us; where we are right, may this be the result; but where we are wrong, may our readers realise it and not follow us.
(Note: if even beloved Christian pastor John Piper is humble enough to pray this in his book When I Don’t Desire God, who are we to argue?)
Offense
All material is written from a non-denominational Christian perspective unless explicitly stated otherwise. Our posts are checked by an independent moderator, and we seek to present information in as non-confrontational and loving a manner as possible. Due to differences of opinion and constitution of “offense” this is not possible for every reader we receive. Dissent or corrections for factual/doctrinal errors are most encouraged, but must be expressed in a mature fashion.
We will not usually edit, ban or delete comments, but reserve the right to do so for reasons including but not limited to profanity, personal attack, being off-topic or not contributing to the discussion. We will not be responsible for offense at material in the comments area.
If despite our measures you remain offended by the posted material, please access another site or close the window, no hard feelings.
Statement of Faith
1. We believe in one God in three Persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He is the Supreme Being with no other gods before, succeeding or besides Him.
2. We believe in God the Father, who made heaven and earth, and everything in it. He is co-equal and co-eternal with God the Son and the Holy Spirit, one God now and forever.
3. We believe God the Son, Jesus Christ, being divine, took upon Himself human nature and was miraculously conceived and born of the Virgin Mary. He was crucified under Pontius Pilate and suffered death on the cross. After three days in the grave He rose to life in the same body He died in. He ascended bodily to heaven, where He sits at the right hand of the Father and continues to rule all creation, heaven and earth.
4. Fallen human beings are entirely unable to earn salvation or justification before God by their own efforts. We believe that Christ’s death on the cross was a substitutionary atonement for our sins, through which our penalty for breaking God’s Law was borne for us; God punished Him in our place, satisfying His justice and allowing us to escape everlasting punishment. Only through faith in this sacrifice can righteousness and release from damnation before God be imputed to us.
5. We believe Christians will one day rise from the dead in glorified bodies and spend eternity with the Lord. He will physically return to the earth to judge every human being who has ever lived, and the justified will go to everlasting reward in a new heaven and earth, and the unjustified to everlasting torment. Christ Himself will rule over the nations with an iron sceptre.
6. We believe in God the Holy Spirit, the Divine Person who has spoken through the prophets and apostles and inspired the writing of Holy Scripture. With the Father and the Son He is worshipped and given glory, being by His nature God, co-eternal, omniscient, and all-powerful.
7. We take the Old and New Testaments of the Bible to be the sole revealed written Word of God, divinely-directed and inerrant in their original autographs and with their message unchanged through the millennia. We acknowledge the ability of the Holy Spirit to work through human writers. We assert that their historical narratives are true, their poetry and allegories inspired, and their prophecies completely coming to pass; be such fulfillment in the past or future.
8. We believe in the Church of Jesus Christ as the organisation by which believers are built, equipped and disciplined to serve Him and one another. The Church is where God’s Word is preached, baptism as an outward sign of new life in Him is performed, the Communion is given, and the saints fellowship.
